A Colourful Day of the Dead Inspired Styled Shoot

Oh we aren’t half excited to be sharing this colourful styled shoot with you! If you’re planning a bright and bold wedding, then this shoot is sure to be chock full of inspiration. But if your head’s in a big colourful muddle, never fear. Try one of our inspiration sessions to help streamline your ideas and take your big day style from perplexed to Pinterest-worthy!

We worked with Sarah from Sprigs and Stems on this colourful styled shoot. She wanted to bring together a bold colour palette with some nods to Mexico and its Day of the Dead festival. As you might imagine, this brief made us muy excited indeed!

We were keen to showcase that colourful doesn’t have to mean kitsch, and put together an elegant bridal look that was still playful and fun. Quirky manor house Ringshall Grange in Suffolk provided an absolutely perfect venue, with enough colourful feature walls and fabulous props to make our hearts beat faster.

We’d had our beady eyes on the amazing colour pop dresses from Lucy Can’t Dance for a while. We knew straightaway that her range would fit this shoot like a dip-dyed, colourful glove! Our model Yaasmin rocked both the ‘Lola’ (blue) and the ‘Ziggy Stardust’ (orange). We love the names of this dress collection almost as much as we love the dresses themselves by the way. Click the link above and you’ll also find ‘Heart of Glass’ and ‘Cherry Bomb’ among the collection. Love it!

Can we now just take a minute to talk about the cake? This stunning whopper of a creation was made by the very lovely Claire from At Your Wish Cakes, who interpreted our brief beautifully. Gold piped hearts? Check. A traditional Mexican winged heart topper? Check. Sugar roses and succulents? Check. 5 tiers of colourful deliciousness? Check!

The table was styled with  copper vases for Sarah’s gorgeous bright blooms and bespoke stationery from Holly Rees. We cannot get enough of that hot pink and orange together. Such a striking and bold colour scheme! We also got our craft on, and hand painted some cheeky little day-of-the-dead-style skulls to adorn the tables.

Y’know those feature walls we mentioned? We were spoilt for choice when deciding where to set up our hand made backdrop of colourful streamers, honeycombs, paper flowers and skulls. The brilliant balloon garland from Oooh Balloons really made this set-up pop, and these are some of our favourite images from the day.

The shoot was such fun to put together, and I think it shows in the gorgeous pictures from Kirsty Mackenzie.

If you’re feeling inspired by this shoot and want to create a truly vibrant big day, get in touch. We’d love to help you create a colourful wow of a wedding.

Love,

Jen x
