OK, British summer, I give up. I don’t know where you are or what you’re playing at, but it’s not good enough. So, I’m taking matters into my own hands, and bringing some seriously sunshine-inducing images to help you lovely lot add a touch of the tropical to your wedding day.
I love this theme, and it’s one that’s got a really wide spectrum. Whether your wedding vibe is subtle style, or all-out kitschathon, there are definitely ways for you to incorporate the exotic into your look – even if the beach and the scorching temperatures of the tropics are thousands of miles away.
Let’s start with bridal style. Gossamer-light fabric, flowing layers and simple silhouettes are perfect for a relaxed, beachy look that’s still ever so bridal. Keeping the dress unfussy means you can go bigger and bolder with accessories – think floral crowns, or chunky, beaded jewellery. Gorgeous!
Don’t forget about your best girls! We adore these prints, they’re fashion-forward and fun at the same time, bringing the theme to the fore without screaming ‘TROPICAL!!’ at you in an unpleasantly in-your-face way. We hate it when dresses get shouty!
So what about decor? It’s easy to think that tropical has to mean a kaleidoscope of lush jungle colour, but keeping it natural with ferns, foliage and occasional bursts of brightness is guaranteed to give your decor some top class tropical style.
But then again, who are we to deter you if a colour explosion is how you want to express your inner tropical goddess?! You know how much we love a big, bold and beautiful colour statement, and these have that tropical edge. Imagine those raspberry mojitos against a crisp white tablecloth… delicious!
If you’ve been on Pinterest recently (and we know you have!) you’ll have been hard pressed to avoid this fruity wedding trend. Needless to say, we ruddy love it, and we’re dreaming of the day one of our couples comes to us with a pineapple based commission! Spray ’em, stack ’em, or fill ’em with flowers – this fabulous fruit is an easy ticket to the tropics in your decor.
So what do you think, lovely ones? Are any of you planning to spice up your wedding with a sultry tropical theme? We’d love to hear about your plans (did someone say pineapples?!), please do spill the beans in the comments, and if you need a hand bringing your ideas together, or sourcing the perfect suppliers for your day, just yell.
